The Power of Prayer
Prayer is how we communicate and connect with God; it is our way of conversing with Him in fellowship and friendship. Did you know that God longs to hear from us throughout the day? He wants to be close to us, and He hears our prayers! How good to know that our God is always there, ready to listen and to meet our needs. God truly is our loving, heavenly father! Here are some wonderful scriptures about the power of prayer:
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
1 John 5: 14-15
And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments
and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
(1 John 3:22)
Many people today live such busy lives that they don’t feel they have the time (or even the energy) to pray. Others believe they must set aside “prayer time” that is structured, precise, and prescribed. But, thankfully, praying does not need to be a “formal” or complicated process. We can carry on conversations with God whenever and however we choose; God is simply delighted to hear from us whenever we reach out to Him. And sometimes, one of the best ways to pray is to simply be still and listen. That’s right – if we do all the talking, we can miss what God is trying to tell us. The Bible teaches us to be still and that, oftentimes, God speaks to us in whispers. That is why it’s so important to quiet one’s mind and simply be in God’s presence.
Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act.
After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled
his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
1 Kings 19: 12-14
Friends, if you are experiencing challenges, questions, needs, or concerns in your life, we’re here for you. Can we support and uplift you through prayer? If so, please click here to send us your prayer request. We are very happy to pray for you!
We also want to share with you these uplifting scriptures that we pray will give you comfort and peace:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Therefore, brothers, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits
for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the
early and the late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because
the Lord’s coming is near.
But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and
watch the LORD rescue you today.”
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress
where I will not be shaken.
