Finding Joy in the Storm
If you're going through a difficult time, it can be challenging to "keep the faith" and to maintain a positive attitude. Life seems to throw us curve balls when we least expect them, and often when we feel the least prepared to handle them. But, friends, you are never, ever alone. Jesus said He would never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Have you really thought about what the word, "forsake," means? According to the dictionary, forsake is defined as "abandon," renounce," or "give up." How good to know that God promised us he will never do these things to us. What a loyal and loving friend we have in Him!
Father, today we come to you with our hands full - full of our woes, troubles, sorrows, pain, problems, and frustrations. You told us to cast our cares on you, and that you will always sustain us. You promised that you will never let the righteous be shaken (Psalm 52:22). We are so thankful for you and your promises! No matter what we're going through, Lord, we know that you are here and that your love and mercy endure forever (Psalm 100:5). Your steadfastness gives us strength to carry on to victory, for you also promised that you have a good plan for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11). In these promises, may we find peace, joy, and rest as we wait for your precious son, Jesus, to come again.
In His holy name we pray. Amen.
